The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA), operating under the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, has announced its highly anticipated Internship Programme for young law students and recent graduates.

This full-time physical internship is designed to acquaint emerging legal professionals with the intricate workings of the Department. Interns will receive hands-on training in research and referencing, court functioning, and tendering legal advice across specialized domains such as constitutional, administrative, finance, infrastructure, and arbitration law.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for this central government internship, candidates must meet the following academic requirements:

  • Undergraduates (3-Year Course): Indian students who have successfully passed their 2nd year of a three-year law degree.
  • Undergraduates (5-Year Course): Indian students who have successfully passed their 3rd year of a five-year integrated law degree.
  • Law Graduates: Candidates who have completed their law degree from any recognized college, law school, or university.
  • Preferred Skills: Advanced working knowledge of computers, including MS Office, Adobe, and infographics, will be given distinct preference.

Deployment Locations

Selected interns will be deployed with specific officers or sections across the following prime locations:

  • New Delhi: Main Secretariat, Central Agency Section at the Supreme Court, or Litigation HC Section.
  • Branch Secretariats: Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

Key Rules & Code of Conduct

  • Working Hours: Full-time physical attendance is required from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Interns are strictly not allowed to pursue any other course or work during this tenure.
  • Attendance: A mandatory 90% attendance and a satisfactory remark from the assigning authority are required to obtain the Certificate of Internship.
  • Dress Code: Formal attire is strictly enforced—black trousers with a white shirt.
  • Accommodation: Interns must arrange their own accommodation and travel; no provisions are made by the Department.

How to Apply for DOLA Internship 2026

The application process is entirely digital via the DOLA online portal.

  1. Navigate to the official Department of Legal Affairs online internship portal.
  2. Register and complete the application form before the deadline.
  3. For Current Students: You must obtain and upload a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your respective college or university.
  4. For Law Graduates: You are exempt from the NOC requirement. Instead, upload your final year degree or completion certificate.
  5. Upload any other relevant documents highlighting your advanced computer or research skills.
  6. Submit your application online before 5:00 PM on June 12, 2026. Shortlisting details will be communicated via the portal and email.
